Update on our learning

A few highlights from grade one last week:

- in literacy we are continue to work on building on vocabulary through sight words and sounding out words.  We are applying what we have learned to read and write sentences;
-we continue to focus on visualizing when we hear a story;
-in math we have been working on using different strategies to help us show our work when adding or subtracting; and,
-in science we are exploring our senses, last week we learned about the senses of touch and sight.

This week:
-Wednesday, March 4 is Crazy Hat/Hair Day.  Students are encouraged to wear their craziest hat or do their hair in a crazy way.  This is school wide activity hosted by our Generosity Club to encourage community and belonging throughout the school.
-We will be sending field trip forms home for our trip to the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation.  The field trip is free to all students.  It is on March 11.  Please return the forms by Monday, March 9. As previously mentioned be need volunteers to go with us on this trip.

Have a wonderful week,
Ms. Genno and Ms. Gibb
