2-D Shapes Monsters!

This week we began our unit on 2-D shapes. After reviewing our knowledge of shapes we went on a shape hunt around our classroom! We loved finding shapes and graphing them. It led to great class discussion and use of our math vocabulary words.

"The egg chair is an oval!"
"I our carpet is a rectangle."
"A square has 4 sides."
"Our carpet has circles on it!"

Using pattern blocks we created shape monsters. Then we practicing our cutting and drawing skills and made shape monsters using coloured paper. Cutting fine details, taking our time to glue pieces together, sharing our monsters with our friends. Some of our shape monsters had circle eyes, triangle teeth, and rectangle bodies! We can't wait to write about what shapes our shape monsters have!

Ask your child what shapes they used to make their shape monster.
